Evert Sillem began his violinstudies with Coosje Wijzenbeek and Davina van Wely. He continued his studies with Philipp Hirschhorn at the Conservatory of Utrecht. He graduated from the Royal Conservatory, The Hague, after which he concluded his studies with prof. Grigori Zhislin at the Royal College of Music, London. Evert took part in masterclasses with Igor Oistrach, Asya Kushner and Michael Kugel.
Evert has been a member of the first violins of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Las Palmas (Spain) and played in various orchestras in Holland. Throughout the years Evert has given courses and masterclasses in Holland and abroad (Spain and Cuba).
Pupils of Evert have won prizes at various Dutch competions. From 2008 - 2012 Evert was chief-editor of ARCO-magazine, the journal of the Dutch-Flemish branch of E.S.T.A. (European String Teachers Association).
Evert teaches the violin and viola at FluXus Center of the Arts, Zaandam and at the Vrije Muziekschool Spaarne, Haarlem.
